Silent Runners feeling cold inside this Christmas

The band from Amsterdam (The Netherlands) releases an anti-Christmas anthem full of conflict and rage, coated in deceptive synthpop – perfect for the whole family to enjoy!

Yes, the tambourine and the campaigns show from the outset that it is Christmas, but already in the first verse it is clear that something is wrong (The weather outside is frightful / and there’s nowhere to go). What follows is a hymn to discomfort at the imposture of celebrations that do not solve any of the problems that the protagonists are dragging along. And the ways of presenting it are pristine, accessible, light, impregnated only with a slight darkness. It’s a track that could very well follow Wham’s Last Christmas. Danceable, 80’s, recognisable… It’s just synthpop/synthwave, isn’t it? No, and that’s what I love about it.

You can listen to the tune, along with its lyrics, in the video below. If you’re curious and want to find out more about Silent Runners, here are links to their profiles on Bandcamp, Spotify, YouTube, Instagram, Facebook and other sites.
