Scenius release ‘Funny Sky’
The Anglo-French duo continue to unleash new darkwave-infused synthpop tunes, with a quality that sets them apart.
Funny Sky is their new single, a track in which they return to mid tempos with syncopated rhythms, supported by the rather warm melodies of the synthesizers and the beautiful voice of Fab Nau, including those twists in the melodies that makes the most alternative synthpop (Mesh, De/Vison and company) so interesting.
To accompany Funny Sky they have created an enigmatic videoclip starring a robot that demonstrates everything it can do with its joints, in a neutral environment, very typical of those mini-news items that appear on the news. According to the band itself, “the song captures the feeling of perceiving an imminent threat, something beyond our control. It evokes the need to prepare ourselves and make the most of the present moment”. Perhaps there is a direct relationship between the video and the theme of the song, a warning about the omnipresent AI?
Scenius have released Funny Sky on several streaming platforms, and you can also find it on Bandcamp, for the moment without physical support. As the band has confirmed, it will end up being part of the upcoming album 13 Billion Dark Years, as it happened with previous singles and the recommended Enough Fears (2020) and Life is A Thing (2023), both released on CD.
